MOTHERS DAY CRAFTS.
Mother's Day is in a couple of days...
If you haven't already picked out a gift for your wonderful Mother, let me help you out. My friend, Taylor & I made our own homemade candles out of essential oils & soy wax. We also marble dipped plain, white mugs. Look at how cute they look! We found the tutorial for the mugs on Buzzfeed (via Pinterest) & you can find it right here. As for the candles, I'll explain below so keep reading.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Double Pot Boiler (or stack two pots)
Soy Candle Wax
Wicks
Essential Oils
Mason Jar
Hot Glue Gun
WHAT TO DO:
Take a hot glue gun & glue the bottom of the wick to the jar (this is a little tricky, it took us a couple times to get it to stick).
On the bottom pot, bring about 1 cup of hot water to a boil & on the top pot, melt about 2lbs of soy wax. (1 lb for each candle, for conversions, multiply the number of candles you want to make by the number of ounces in each jar. Then divide by 20. For example, 2 (candles) x 8 (oz) = 16/20= 0.8lbs)
Pour wax into mason jar slowly (not to disrupt the wick) & add a couple drops of essential oils. I used lime & grapefruit.
We used a pen, but you can use whatever you'd like to hold up the wick as the candles dry. Let them sit overnight.
Cut the excess wick once your candle is harden. You can also add cute charms or lace to add a little flare for Mother's Day!
