HEALTHY LIFESTYLE STARTUP.

I've had a sweet tooth as long as I can remember...

which makes the motivation to eat healthy pretty hard. And being a server that works late at night prevents me from waking up early to workout. But I've found a new way to help keep myself active & my diet healthy. If you're having troubles getting into a healthy routine, keep reading.

START WITH A LIST.

List all the healthy foods you like & the workouts you enjoy (pick workouts that focus on your target goal(s).

RESEARCH.

Look on Pinterest for recipe ideas that cater to your food interests (you can find my board here) & if you're not sure of workouts you should do, research those as well. Beware of researching proper workouts online, only go to well known & respected websites.

JUST DO IT!

Go out to the grocery store & buy your favourite (healthy) foods! Keep on the outside aisles & avoid the pesky snack aisle. Ok, maybe walk very swiftly down that aisle & grab 2 (max.) snack foods. What I realized when I try to cut out junk food completely is that I feel the urge to binge eat an entire bag of chips two days in. Next thing I know, I'm ordering a bacon cheeseburger combo in the McDonald's drive thru at 1 a.m…. Which means junk food can be useful when you're easing your way into a new, healthy diet. Balance is key!

Now, go to the gym! I don't mean drop everything now & go to the gym, but plan some time to get there, or at least do some form of physical activity. Find a sports team to join or take a few fitness classes to help you get back into it. When you're laying on the couch or in your bed, procrastinating the gym, take some pre workout or chug a coffee & get to it! Remember that workouts should be no longer than an hour, after an hour, you're not doing anything for your body. Set goals for yourself, whether it be running farther, lifting heavier weights or becoming more flexible. (my motivation board on Pinterest is here)

BE HEALTHY.

Always remember to BE HEALTHY. No crash diets, or eating less. No excessive working out or running until you pass out. The purpose of working out & eating well is to be healthy. If you're getting headaches, a sore stomach or feeling any sort of dizziness, take a day to make sure you're eating enough & rest up. Don't overdo it, you're not going to reach your goal that way. Be realistic about your progress & don't put yourself down!
